Brief Explanation of Project

Project, “COMFORT ME” was founded in the year 2001 by Surviving, Incorporated to work with local surgeons, oncologist, gynecologist, and plastic surgeons in providing support and education to women from the time of diagnosis, through treatment, and recovery from breast cancer. These physicians expressed a need for flexible support tailored to their patients’ needs in dealing with the confusion, fear, and pain that come as a result of a breast cancer diagnoses.

Project, (COMFORT me), founded by Surviving, Incorporated assists local doctors in providing comfort to their patients through one-on-one home visitation, Utility Assistance, payable to utility companies, Grocery/travel and Rent assistance payable to Apartment complexes, and respite care to soften the hurt and pain of being diagnosed with breast cancer. All of our support services are focused on uplifting, strengthening, educating, and comforting these patients and their families with free services through local doctor referrals, hospitals, Women Wellness Centers, Pretty Please and A Woman’s Place breast cancer recovery materials, church seminars, cancer walks, support groups, beauty shops, beauty supply stores, family members and word of mouth. We have scheduled seminars at local churches and organizations to heighten awareness and educate people on steps to easy breast cancer detection, survival and recovery skills. We provide patients with information and directions to local free, or low cost resources for insurance, medicines, doctor referrals and transportation when a family member or friend is not available. All of these services are provided free to anyone diagnosed with breast cancer with low income, on Medicaid & Medicare in the metropolitan Atlanta area.
