Evelyn Hunter's Story
Evelyn Hunter-Founder/Executive Director
Surviving, Incorporated
Evelyn was diagnosed with ductile carcinoma in situ breast cancer, with evasive areas June, 1997. After having needle localization, a biopsy and a lumpectomy all in one month, she had a mastectomy 2 months later.
Through her trials and tribulation she was stressed with the fear of death, not being around to raise her 3 kids, and having a female surgeon who lacked compassion and never offered education. That’s when she realized she had to fight for her life. Through her new male doctor, Brian C. Organ, who was very compassionate and listened to all her questions and concerns, this allowed her to power-up and take charge of her life. After this surgeon said “no chemo no radiation” she new God had placed this mission on her life and there was no turning back. Immediately she told him, “if he had any patients that needed her assistance, please have them give her a call”. Evelyn started assisting him in empowering and supporting his patients with only $20 a patient but unfortunately, the referrals started coming from other organizations on a large scale and more funding was needed to provide financial assistance, and visitations. That’s when Surviving, Incorporated was Born.
The Lord led Evelyn to an accountant, Henry Benjamin who blessed her with his expertise of starting the non-profit organization and several grants.
God is still in charge in Jesus name, and with funding we will continue this awesome work. We pray God Bless you with health, healing, and happiness throughout your life.
